TedX and Voices

We become the stories we tell ourselves. Dr. Nick Nissley

I was really blessed on Thursday with the opportunity to spend the day at a TedX Calgary event. Despite horrific weather snarls, technical difficulties and a late start the day unfolded with inspiring words and ideas shared by speakers from as diverse a viewpoint as mountain climbing to James Nguen, a Lost Boy of the Sudan sharing his story "The Long Journey Home".

There were so many powerful moments. So many inspiring ideas. Ken Low shared on leadership. Life is the Christ journey. It is the Buddha seat. "We all die so others may live," he said. It is the story of life. Recreating itself with every being. Ken is the founder and president of the Action Studies Institute dedicated to mapping out the dynamics of adaptive intelligence in human systems and pioneering the development of a new discipline – human learning ecology.

"If you're in a story you don't like, change the story," said Dr. Nick Nissley, Executive Director, Leadership Development at The Banff Centre.

The unexpected theme of the day was Voice.

Finding it.
Sharing it.
Giving space for it.
Shifting it.
Building it.
Creating it.
Moving it.
Expanding it.

Voice.

And as this is a beautiful Saturday and the snow is gone, buds continue to blossom and the sky is big and inviting, I am off to go out into the day.
